The theme of my project is the interior of a bowling alley. I chose this because i thought the idea was simple but allowed me to do a lot with all the assets. I developed my ideas by recording most of my progress throughout the creation of my model, as well as note down problems and solutions for the problems and solutions for the problems i encountered, as well as use mind maps, basic layouts and mood-boards. For reference material i bought and took pictures of a bowling ball as well as look at different movies and games which involved or solely revolved around bowling. This gave me an in depth look at different types of bowling alleys with different layouts and sizes. This also helped me with scale and positioning of objects. I looked at three different artists who had all created assets that involved bowling, this is because it gave me a chance to look at different processes and ways to create one object, for example a bowling pin. The resources i used were Maya, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine. This allowed me to create a model, create textures for it and my plan was to import my model into unreal but i never got the chance due to other things taking up more time than i expected, for example when i started modelling i tried making a bowling ball but didn't know how to go about making the actual holes in the ball, after looking for a solution i found that i needed to use the boolean tool, this made me change the work i was doing as the boolean tool often messes with topography of the object so i had to spend extra time fixing the mesh making sure it looked decent as well as making sure it worked. Using this method was helpful as it was simple and quick at actually creating the holes but then fixing the mesh took up some time. Another problem that came up making me change some things in my project was not knowing how to create the curve for the underneath of my bowling ball return machine. For this part of my model i needed a particular curve on th bottom of the machine to make sure it looked realistic as well as full-fill the function i wanted it to. This helped me during my project as it taught me a way to make curves which i hadn't seen before, using the three point curve tool. The good thing about this was that i then used that method to create other parts in my scene for example, the frame of the chairs, however i do wonder if there is another way about doing it because it was quite time consuming actually finding this method and then actually using it. Overall by using Maya and Photoshop i had the opportunity to create a model from scratch, which i hadn't done before and then create the textures for that model which i also hadn't done before. Throughout the project my ideas did change as limitations did come up which forced me to change my overall model, for example due to the computer constantly crashing due to amount of polygons i had on my benches, meaning i had to remove a bunch of benches that otherwise would have been in my model. Also i planned to UV everything in my scene but because i didn't know how to UV at all, the amount i could do wa limited to a small amount of objects, however although the amount was small, the Uving i actually did gave me more experience about knowing how to go about actually doing it. If i could change anything it would be starting the Uving earlier as that would have gave me even more practise for the future, as well as make my scene look better overall.
